Mesa Pedestrian Accident Results in Death of 50-Year-Old Man

By Wrongful Death Attorney on November 29, 2011 - No comments

As Mesa wrongful death attorneys, we were saddened to hear of the death of a 50-year-old man on November 21, according to reports from AZ Central. The man died after being hit by a car near Alma School and Guadalupe roads in Mesa around 10:15 p.m. He was pushing a shopping cart across the street when a Nissan Frontier struck him and was transported to a hospital where he was pronounced dead. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family at this time, and we want to express our deepest condolences for their loss.

Causes of This Mesa Pedestrian Accident

Police believe that the driver of the Nissan Frontier involved in the Arizona fatal pedestrian accident wasn’t speeding and wasn’t under the influence of drugs or alcohol. The roadway was dark, and as accident attorneys, we often see pedestrian accidents that occur because motorists couldn’t see pedestrians. It is possible that the city may hold some fault for this accident for not making sure that a busy street had adequate lighting.

Mesa Pedestrian Accident Statistics

There were 20 fatal Mesa car accidents in 2009, according to City-Data.com. Twenty-two people were killed in those car accidents, and 28 vehicles were involved. Drunk drivers caused five fatal car accidents.

Contact a Mesa Wrongful Death Lawyer

A wrongful death lawyer would immediately go down to the scene of the accident to investigate fault. There is a very short statute of limitations when it comes to making a claim against the city. The notice of claim against a city is due within 180 days of the accident, which is a few days shy of 6 months.

We have had many people call us after the statute of limitations ran out for the Notice of Claim, which is required to be filed with the appropriate city entity and served on the correct individuals. The family would be best served to contact an experienced injury lawyer to have this matter investigated.
